Last week on Wednesday 30th November the children from 3 years old kindergarden till 4th grade celebrated Saint Andrew’s Day in San José school in the programme of English language subject. We made different projects. From 1st grade of ESO to the 3rd grade of ESO we made posters with varied information about Scotland. And the 4th grade of ESO made the decoration of the school and the panel at the entrance.
Last year this school celebrated the Saint George’s Day (23rd April, England) and two years ago they celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day (17th March, Ireland). Every year the celebration changes.
In our group they talked about the legends (Cailleach Béirre and the Brownies), symbols (The thistle and the anthem), castles (Blackness and Kildrummy castle), festivals (Hogmanay and Burn’s night), gastronomy (Sticky toffee and Pudding Butterscotch), music (Harp and bagpipes), poets and writers (Robert Burn and J.K. Rowling), games (Folk dance and Highland games), economy (Scottish Parliament and Scottish Business Divisions) and nursery rhymes (Three crows and slippery fish).
